Clean Technology Incubator
Clean Technology Incubator
Incubators provide ready-to-go space and support infrastructure for startup companies to launch a successful business.
Incubators also provide support staff to assist entrepreneurs with business operations as well as strategic business development advice and coaching.
Given Northeast Ohio’s strengths in materials, specialty chemicals and manufacturing as well as its expertise in engineering and research, the region is a ripe location to commercialize clean energy technologies, create jobs, and accelerate early-stage clean technology companies.
In collaboration with its partners, NorTech Energy Enterprise is developing a sustainable business strategy, operational plan and governance structure for a clean tech incubator that will nurture smart grid, energy storage and advanced material companies. NorTech Energy Enterprise is responsible for facilitating stakeholder meetings to attract resources and resolve community objectives as well as identify fundable opportunities, consisting of research and development projects. NorTech Energy Enterprise will also help procure resources for the incubator, located in the city of Warren, Ohio.
Congressman Tim Ryan (District 17) has secured a $2 million appropriation to rehabilitate a facility in Warren to house the incubator. NorTech Energy Enterprise will work with the incubator’s board to secure additional funding commitments to support incubator construction.
Collaborators for the Warren incubator project include: AST2; Fund for Our Economic Future; JumpStart, Inc.; Kent State University; Office of Congressman Tim Ryan; Office of State Senator Capri Cafaro; Ohio Department of Development; RPM; The City of Warren; The National Energy Technology Lab; The Trumbull 100; and Youngstown State University.
